ABOUT ZOLTAN REDL-NAGY

Zoltan is a highly trained manual contemporary artist. His drawing skills were perfected at an academy in Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca), Romania. He finished with a master's degree in 1996 at Budapest, Hungary, which kept nurturing his talent. He advanced his career for years, improving these skills and becoming an adept, profound painter. Thanks to his natural artistic creativeness, Zoltan created an oeuvre full of rich tones and beauty supported by subtle lines, bold colors, and humanity's touch. Those qualities have made him the successful artist he is today. His career led him to Hungary and to the US, where he continues to develop a beautiful diversity within his art. His thirst for new techniques and advancements led him to photography, which resonated with his creativity. The massive range of possibilities within digital imaging has further kindled a passion that transforms his art. His recent work is a testament to his skill and the fact that he has reached the pinnacle. He marries talent and technique, using digital technology jointly with manual painting techniques, and creates figurative, nonfigurative, and artistic nude art that transforms the environment around it. The mixture of traditional photography and digital technology is a doorway through which art creates a real experience visually.

The starting point is a photo or a drawing. Then, through digital processes, Zoltan brings the artwork to an "80% ready" condition. He prints the piece, and the manual work follows painting with oil or acrylic. He applies a wide range of tools and materials, including collage. The resulting artwork distinctly and uniquely demonstrates their creator's high-level technical knowledge and masterful quality manual artist styles. The trends of the defining artists of the 19th and 20th centuries naturally influence him. His artistic world is never dryly measured, never rationally constructed, and always in motion. His lushly decorated artistic approach hint at the profoundly impactful way the "drawn from nature" of Art Nouveau influence the ornamentation, style, vision as an artist. Behind the striking visual-juxtapositions, we discern surrealism's dreaminess, while constructivism can be sensed in the carefully balanced, deliberately crafted spectacle of geometric forms. We know his abstract art's flavors emerge from his strong conceptual impulses paired with figurative/seeming, plus expressly spectacle-based works, such as landscape photographs, that equally show his talent's wide range. Zoltan Redl-Nagy's artworks show how he journeys between manual and digitalization techniques, geometric and organic motifs, abstraction idealism, and concreteness. If a feminine form appears in his beautiful photography, the delicate eroticism is also exciting visually. If a tree fights for life in a pleasant or bleak landscape, the spectacular color composition that tells its story also strongly affects us. Distinctive, radiant color schemes characterize his works. They portray the kind of space whose virtual third- and fourth dimensions impress us as truth and what becomes, via the artist's suggestion, a received experience. Zoltan Redl-Nagy builds his manual drawing talent into prints made by his virtuosic use of digital technology, enhancing them and creating a unique, magical artistic vision world.
